MyGeekBox Afterlife box

MyGeekBox is a pretty awesome subscription box. I love surprises, and this box is full of surprises! Each month you receive a themed mystery box filled with super geeky gear. The box also includes a limited edition T-shirt. The theme of the box changes each month. This month's theme was Afterlife. I wasn't sure what to expect from this box, but as Halloween is right around the corner I guessed it might have something to do with it.
The bright blue box arrived in the post, and I couldn't wait to open it. Of course if you couldn't wait for yours to arrive, you can always check the hashtag #mygeekbox and see photos of other people's boxes. But of course, that would ruin the surprise!
The box was filled to the brim with goodies. The first item I found was a blood stained tea towel which I thought was rather funny. Other zombie items were also inside, plus a Dracula puzzle figure. I think my favourite item was the Boo! t-shirt, purely because you can choose your preferred size online when you order your box, so you know it's going to fit. Plus as Halloween is coming up, I will be able to wear this to work for our Halloween dress-up days.
The only downside to this box was that I had hoped for more licensed products like had been in previous boxes. I had secretly wished for a Buffy item, horror movie products or maybe even a Pop! vinyl figure. Sadly this wasn't the case. However the Dracula puzzle will sit proudly on my shelf with my other collectables. He is very cute, even for a mini Dracula. My best friend Sarah is a mega horror nerd and I shall be gifting the zombie themed tea towel and word plate to her. I know she's going to be so excited about that! That's the thing about these boxes, it is all pot luck, you never know what you are going to get. Of course that's part of the charm.
I'm looking forward to sitting down with a good cup of tea and reading the graphic novel that was included in this box. I read a lot of comic books, however I hadn't heard of Twisted Dark.
I'm now off to eat candy corn in my Boo! t-shirt, while I researching what scary movies to watch this weekend.

Autumn feeling

So Autumn really is in the air. The cold weather has made me have to search for my thick wooly scarf. Plus I need to purchase a new pair of winter boots.
A couple of weeks ago I visited a new tearoom in Herne Bay when we had our MIHB meeting. It was rather cute! The Stable is really cute little place. I loved the pretty tea cups and teapots the tea came in.
Lots of planning to do for upcoming shows and markets. It's so exciting to be part of something so special and creative. Plus working with such amazing friends is always the best thing. I have been planning lots of new work. It's always so exciting coming up with new ideas, it's just getting everything done!

Wandering around Lord Bath's home

While I was on holiday I got to visit Lord Bath's home again. I always fall in love with this place as soon as I walk through the giant doors.
I always feel the same wonderment that I felt as a child walking through those doors. Now I am older I just stare at the gorgeous treasures inside even more so now. Wishing some of these beautiful rooms could be mine. The wallpaper is so delicate, and the patterns are intricate and very special.
You walk through these giant rooms and just stare at all paintings on the walls. My Dad made a joke that because the building was so grand, the painting should come to life like in Harry Potter.
Inside the house they have a huge collection of cutlery and chinaware in cabinets and on tables. I wanted to take home some of the beautifully decorated teacups.
Wandering the rooms and hallways knowing that a family still live in this giant house is amazing. It's wonderful that we can visit and see it in all its glory.

It's good to escape

I have been missing my woodland holiday I went on recently. It was so peaceful to go away with all my loved ones to a quiet week away. I packed my bags, grabbed my scarf, and picked up my camera.
All of us hidden away in the cutest cabin for the week. The weather was so autumn like, with a chill in the air, it rained a little, and the sun shinned and you could smell the autumn leaves. It's so good to escape for a little while.
Wandering through the trees with a coffee in my hand, just searching for the perfect places to take photos. The whole holiday was so relaxing, and just what I needed. We spend so much time running around, seeing people, working, going here and there, we never really have any time to relax. This is what my holiday was, a time to relax and become me again.

Made in Herne Bay summer markets

When I first met David, I never dreamed I would be part of such an amazing group of artists. Herne Bay is a beautiful place, full of culture and joy. After showing my work in a number of galleries I was invited to join Made in Herne Bay. An group of like minded creative makers all based in the wonderful town of Herne Bay. Being a part of this group has strengthened my work as an artist and given me some wonderful friends.
So this summer we planned our Clock Tower Makers Markets. They were held right in front of the Clock Tower at the seafront. We invited other local makers to join for these markets. The weather did shine and we had 3 wonderful days.
I had such amazing feedback about my work. I sold lots and met some great people. The events gave me lots to be positive about within my work.
We had musicians play, children's workshops, plus one day we even had Punch & Judy. Lots for all the family to do and enjoy. We also had delicious local food and coffee for sale.
We have already started planning our Winter market, which is all set for November. Lots of exciting news will be coming soon. Now I need to go and create more work! You can find out more about MIHB on our Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Just search #MadeinHerneBay!
